Public consultation opens on safety improvements for notorious Larkin's Cross on N25

A public consultation has opened on proposed safety improvements at one of County Wexford's best-known accident blackspots.

Wexford County Council is seeking public feedback on plans to upgrade the N25 junctions with the R738 and L3022 at Larkin's Cross, approximately 3.5 kilometres west of Wexford Town.

The junction has been the scene of numerous road traffic collisions over the years, with repeated calls from local residents and road users for safety improvements.

The proposed scheme aims to improve safety for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists through a range of measures, including new traffic calming works, junction upgrades and improved active travel infrastructure.

The plans include:

• New footpaths
• Dedicated cycling infrastructure
• New public lighting
• Junction realignment and road resurfacing
• New drainage works
• Improved access to the existing pedestrian underpass

The proposals are now on public display and can be viewed from 22 July until 19 August 2026.

Members of the public are invited to make submissions or observations before the closing date of Wednesday, 2 September 2026. Written submissions should be sent to the Planning Department at Wexford County Council.

The consultation forms part of the planning process for the proposed N25 Junction Improvement Scheme (Planning Reference LAC2609), which is intended to enhance road safety and improve access for all users at the busy Larkin's Cross junction.
