Public Information Events To Be Held On The Future Of Wexford Town Next Month

Wexford Town residents are being urged to have their say on future plans for the area.

Wexford County Council is inviting the public to share their views on the proposed Wexford Town Urban Framework Plan, which will help guide the town's future growth and sustainable development.

A public consultation process has opened today and will run until the 24th of November.

As part of that process, two information events will be held at the Wexford Library on Tuesday 3rd from 11am to 3pm and again on Thursday 5th of November from 3pm to 7pm.

Locals are asked to attend these events to learn more about the proposals, ask questions and share their views.

This plan will now proceed as Proposed Variation No. 3 to the Wexford County Development Plan 2022 - 2028.

It will set out land use zoning objectives and identify the infrastructure needed to support both future development and existing communities.

The Proposed Variation will also include:

  • An Urban Design Strategy;
  • A Master Plan for the Ballynagee area;
  • A Rainwater Management Plan; and
  • A Strategic Flood Risk Assessment.

Meanwhile, CEO of the council says his officials remain committed to the Trinity Wharf development plan.

Speaking on the Morning Mix this week, Eddie Taaffe admitted the process has been slower than they would have liked but they are leaving it open with another presentation on its plans on the way in the near future.

That report was funded by the Local Democracy Reporting Scheme.
