Sauna May Be Restored To Rosslare Strand Next Year

A sauna which was recently removed from Rosslare Strand might be on it's way back.

The facility set up by Helios was forced to close down due to planning permission issues while there were also some objections to it locally.

The sauna had been popular with sea swimmers at Rosslare Strand particularly during colder weather.

Chairwoman of Wexford County Council and local representative Lisa McDonald says they are working to restore sauna services in the area:

"I can't say very much at the moment because it is commerically sensitive but I am happy to say there will hopefully be a sauna in Rosslare Strand next summer.

"It's a wonderful thing to do to get into the sauna and then get into the sea and get that hot/cold therapy.

"It's been great for people, they've been sitting there enjoying the sauna and what it has to offer and it is a growing trend in Ireland."

It's hoped the restoration of the sauna will add to the offering of Rosslare Strand to visitors next summer as the area looks to boost its reputation towards tourists.

Plans are also underway to improve parking facilities in the area and regenerate parts of the village to make it easier to stay and play.

That report was funded by the Local Democracy Reporting Scheme.
