Excitement is building ahead of the second annual Midsummer Ladies Lunch, which takes place this Sunday, June 7th, at the picturesque Newbay House in County Wexford.
The fundraising event, organised in support of Wexford Rape Crisis Centre, has proven hugely popular, selling out within days of launch. This year's event will welcome 270 ladies for an afternoon of food, fashion and fundraising.
The day will begin with a prosecco reception in the gardens at 1.30pm, followed by a four-course lunch and a fashion showcase featuring collections from four County Wexford boutiques.
Guests will also hear from a number of keynote speakers, including Wexford poet and author Regina Redmond, Chief Executive of Wexford Rape Crisis Centre Clare Williams, and organising committee chairperson Fiona Gainfort.
Ms Gainfort thanked local businesses, sponsors and councillors for their support of the event and the centre's work. She highlighted the growing demand for services, revealing that referrals to the centre increased by 22 per cent over the past year.
"The need for this service is great and continues to grow. Survivors deserve support, counselling and healing," she said.
Last year's event raised €17,000 for the centre, and organisers are hoping to significantly increase that figure this year to help meet rising demand.
