SunArc Announces €20 Million Investment in New Solar-as-a-Service Model, Creating 50 Jobs

SunArc has announced a major €20 million investment over the next two years to launch its new Solar-as-a-Service offering, a move designed to accelerate Ireland’s transition to clean energy while creating 50 new skilled jobs.

The new service, launching this month, allows businesses to access solar energy with no upfront capital cost, removing one of the key barriers to adoption. Instead, customers pay a reduced, fixed energy rate while SunArc manages the full system lifecycle, including installation, maintenance, monitoring, upgrades, and long-term support.

Under the model, businesses typically enter a Power Purchase Agreement and can expect to fully own their solar system after around 15 years, with panels designed to last up to 30 years. The company says this approach combines immediate energy savings with long-term asset ownership.

SunArc is positioning itself as the only provider in Ireland offering a fully integrated end-to-end solar service, covering design, installation, grid and system protection, ongoing management, and technical support. Alongside its traditional capital expenditure option, the company is also introducing a hybrid pathway, allowing customers to begin with zero upfront cost and transition to ownership over time.

The €20 million investment will support the expansion of SunArc’s Carlow operations and the creation of 50 new roles across installation, engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, customer support, and management. This will bring the company’s workforce to 80 employees.

“This is a transformational moment not just for SunArc, but also for business energy independence in Ireland,” said Billy Thompson, CEO of SunArc. “Our investment represents a long-term commitment to making solar energy affordable, accessible, and hassle-free for businesses.”

The company believes the new model will significantly increase solar adoption across Ireland, helping businesses reduce energy costs, lower carbon emissions, and strengthen energy independence amid rising electricity prices.
