A suspect has been identified by Gardaí following a series of disturbing and harassing phone calls made to female councillors on Wexford County Council.
As part of the investigation Gardaí carried out a search and seized a number of mobile phones and other media devices.
The case has highlighted once again the level of abuse and harassment experienced by some women in public life.
It has also prompted renewed concerns around anonymous phone calls and the protections available to elected representatives who are targeted while carrying out their public duties.
