Taoiseach apologises to whistleblower over state's failure
The Taoiseach has apologised to Sergeant Maurice McCabe for the state's failure to investigate his allegations more quickly. Enda Kenny says the Garda whistleblower has been completely vindicated by the findings of the Guerin Report. The document was written by Wexford born senior counsel Sean Guerin. The cabinet's ordered a panel of experts to look into the operations of the Department of Justice, and to ask the Garda Inspectorate to look into the management of serious crime within the Gardaí. And Enda Kenny says Maurice McCabe's allegations of Garda malpractice should have been investigated quicker.
