Taoiseach Micheál Martin has called for common sense in the use of Officer Response Vehicles by first responders, following concerns raised by North Wexford Deputy Brian Brennan.
Deputy Brennan described a recent incident in Gorey where first responders had to use their personal cars, as their designated vehicles were left parked.
He questioned why this decision, which prevents officers from taking their response vehicles home, continues to impact response times.
In reply, the Taoiseach said that a review by the National Ambulance Service raised tax liability issues regarding personal use of state vehicles but that discussions are ongoing
