The hse must answer tough questions over controversal pay top ups
Top up payments to senior hospital executives will come under scrutiny today when the Director General of the HSE appears before the Public Accounts Committee. Tony O'Brien will answer questions on recent revelations that senior health managers are getting over three million euro a year in unsanctioned pay and allowances funded by the public purse. He'll also be grilled on the health budget and spending last year within the Health Service Executive. The HSE's current overspend stands at almost one hundred and twenty million euro - but that figure is expected to rise before the end of the year.
