Wexford County Council, in collaboration with the Wexford Local Community Development Committee (LCDC), has officially launched the Local Enhancement Programme (LEP) 2026. The initiative, which is part of a nationwide €7 million investment announced by Minister for Rural and Community Development Dara Calleary TD, has allocated €253,227 to Wexford communities.
The 2026 programme is designed to support small-scale capital projects that improve local facilities or provide essential equipment. Funding is available for community groups and voluntary organisations across Wexford, with a particular focus on supporting disadvantaged rural and urban areas.
Key aspects of the programme include:
-
100% Funding: No match funding is required, making the grants accessible for all eligible groups.
-
Capital Grants: Grants are available for necessary repairs to community facilities, as well as for equipment such as laptops, printers, and furniture.
-
Priority Areas: Projects that enhance energy efficiency, improve accessibility for people with disabilities, or encourage participation from marginalised groups are encouraged.
-
Small Grants: 30% of the funding is reserved for smaller capital grants of €1,000 or less.
Cllr. Aidan Browne, Chairperson of the LCDC, highlighted the importance of the programme, saying, “This funding will empower small communities in disadvantaged areas across Wexford, enabling them to carry out vital projects that benefit local residents. I encourage all eligible groups to apply and continue the great work they are doing.”
Applications are now open for all not-for-profit community or voluntary groups based in County Wexford. Applications must be submitted online through the Wexford County Council portal by Friday, 27th February 2026, at 5:00 pm.
