Wexford Farmer Wins Top Honour at Pasture Progress Awards 2025

A Wexford farmer has been named the overall winner at the Pasture Progress Awards 2025, held at the Teagasc Crops Research Centre in Oak Park, Co. Carlow.

Liam Rochford from Croase, Co. Wexford was awarded the top prize and also named Leinster winner, recognising his excellence and progress in sustainable grassland management.

The awards, presented by Minister of State Noel Grealish, celebrate farmers and students who are improving pasture production, efficiency, and sustainability as part of the Teagasc Grass10 campaign.

Organisers say the initiative highlights the importance of high-quality grassland systems in supporting profitable and environmentally sustainable farming.

This year’s awards saw winners from across the country, with students and farmers recognised for innovation in grass utilisation, nutrient management, and livestock production systems.

Speaking at the event, organisers praised participants for their commitment to improving farm performance, noting that better grassland management continues to deliver strong environmental and economic benefits.

Wexford’s Liam Rochford was among those singled out for his outstanding contribution, bringing national recognition to the county in this year’s competition.
