Wexford Nursing Home Professional Honoured at NHI Care Awards 2025

Sinead Meegan, a dedicated professional from Oakfield Nursing Home in Ballinakill, Courtown, Gorey, has been recognised as one of Ireland’s top caregivers at the NHI Care Awards 2025. She was presented with the prestigious General Care Award, sponsored by AIB, at the awards ceremony held in the Round Room at the Mansion House, Dublin. The NHI Care Awards, now in their 16th year, are a national celebration of excellence in nursing home care, recognising individuals and teams who provide exceptional care to residents every day. This year, over 250 nominations were submitted from nursing homes across Ireland, with 34 finalists selected by an independent panel of experts from nursing, academia and the health and social care sector. In a speech at the event, Tadhg Daly, CEO of Nursing Homes Ireland, praised Meegan for her outstanding commitment to residents, colleagues, and the wider community. “Sinead embodies the compassion, professionalism, and heartfelt dedication that defines quality nursing home care,” Daly remarked. Minister for Older People, Kieran O'Donnell TD, was also present at the ceremony and presented an award during the evening. The NHI Care Awards not only highlight the extraordinary efforts of individuals like Meegan but also underscore the vital role nursing homes play in supporting over 27,000 residents across Ireland. The Awards cover various categories, from clinical excellence to teamwork, resident wellbeing and continuous improvement, recognising the dedication that enables residents to live life to the fullest.
