Wexford Projects Share in €33,500 Funding Boost to Tackle Literacy and Digital Skills

A number of community projects in Wexford are set to benefit from a share of €33,494 in funding aimed at tackling literacy, numeracy, digital literacy and financial literacy needs across the region.

The funding has been announced by Minister of State Marian Harkin as part of the national Adult Literacy for Life (ALL) Collaboration and Innovation Fund 2026, which is providing €1 million to projects nationwide.

Among the Wexford initiatives receiving support is Reach Ability's "Money Matters" programme, which will help participants develop financial literacy skills, manage their finances safely and build confidence in using financial services.

Funding will also support projects designed to improve digital literacy, including workshops to help members of the Roma community access and use the HSE app and other essential online services.

The funding is being delivered through SOLAS and Waterford and Wexford ETB, with seven projects across the region receiving support this year.

Minister Harkin said the projects are helping people access essential literacy services while contributing to a more inclusive society. She noted that literacy remains a challenge for one in five adults and said the fund supports practical community-based solutions that help people develop important life skills.

Regional Literacy Coordinator with Waterford and Wexford ETB, Edel Finan, welcomed the funding, saying the projects will help adults build confidence in everyday skills and participate more fully in work, learning and community life.
