Market rents in Wexford rose by 7.2% in the first three months of 2026, according to the latest Daft.ie Rental Report, as rents nationwide recorded their biggest quarterly increase on record.
The report found that the average market rent for a three-bedroom house in County Wexford is now €1,585 per month.
Nationally, rents increased by 4.4% between December and March - the sharpest quarterly rise since Daft.ie records began in 2002. The average rent for a two-bedroom apartment across the country has now passed €2,100 a month.
The report says rent inflation remains particularly strong outside Dublin, with prices up more than 18% year-on-year in Galway city, 13% in Cork and almost 10 per cent in Limerick.
In Dublin, rents are now nearly 7% higher than a year ago.
The number of homes available to rent nationwide has shown a modest recovery in recent months. Just under 2,500 homes were available to rent on May 1st, compared to fewer than 1,800 three months earlier.
Daft.ie says the increase follows the introduction of new rental rules earlier this year, with more landlords appearing to return properties to the market since the changes came into effect.
However, the report warns that rental supply remains well below normal levels and far behind pre-pandemic figures.
Author of the report, Trinity College economist Ronan Lyons, said the ability to reset rents between tenancies appears to have caused a “step-change” in asking prices.
He said while listings have increased in recent months, it may only represent landlords delaying properties coming onto the market until the new rules were introduced, rather than any long-term improvement in supply.
The report concludes that it may take years before the full impact of the new rental measures can be properly assessed.
