New car registrations in Wexford saw a significant rise in April, with a 7.7% increase compared to last year.
A total of 1,931 new cars were registered, outpacing the 1,793 registrations in April 2025.
The surge is largely driven by electric vehicles, with 481 new EVs registered in the county, marking a 70.6% increase.
Nationally, electric vehicle sales were up by nearly 110%, reflecting a shift towards greener driving.
Wexford’s growing interest in EVs contributes to the broader trend, with hybrid vehicles also remaining popular.
As the transition to electric continues, experts urge the government to maintain support for EV incentives.
