New figures released today show a significant increase in the number of first-time buyers purchasing homes across Wexford and the wider Southeast region.
Data published by Banking and Payments Federation Ireland shows first-time buyer mortgage volumes across Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford and Wexford increased by 24 per cent between 2021 and 2025.
The figures also reveal a major increase in purchases of newly built homes, with first-time buyer mortgages on new properties rising by 64 per cent over the same period.
Housing Minister James Browne welcomed the figures and said they point to progress in both housing supply and access to home ownership.
He said the growth in first-time buyer activity, particularly in new-build homes, shows Government supports are helping more households secure their own home across the region.
However, the Minister acknowledged that challenges remain and said more housing delivery is needed to support the many individuals and families still trying to become homeowners.
Minister Browne said his focus remains on increasing housing supply further so that more first-time buyers in Wexford and across the Southeast can access affordable homes in the years ahead.
