Communities across County Wexford will come together tomorrow morning (Saturday 9th May) for this year’s Darkness Into Light, with walks beginning at 4.15am in towns and villages right across the county.
The annual event, led by Pieta, sees thousands of people walk from darkness into sunrise in a symbolic show of hope, remembrance, and support for those affected by suicide and self-harm.
Local volunteer organisers say the walks in Rosslare, Wexford Town, Courtown, Enniscorthy, Davidstown, New Ross and Bunclody have strong community backing once again this year, with families, friends and individuals expected to take part across all routes.
The event raises vital funds for crisis counselling, bereavement support, helpline services, and early intervention programmes, with organisers highlighting the importance of awareness, connection and community action in preventing suicide.
Organisers say the early morning walk remains a powerful reminder that help is available, and that no one needs to face mental health struggles alone.
Participants can also take part by attending on the morning of the walk and completing registration on site before the event begins.
