Wexford woman recovering in hospital following attack
A young Wexford woman is recovering in hospital following an alleged hatchet attack at her home on Monday evening. The incident happened shortly after 5pm as the woman slept on a couch. Nicole Dwyer claims she was struck in the face when a man entered her home suggesting he was allegedly owed money by a man known to her. The raider is understood to have threatened to remove a TV from the house as collateral for the amount he was owed. When a man present objected to this it is alleged the suspect swung a hatchet hitting Nicole to the side of her nose and mouth. South East RadioNews understands the hatchet was later discovered in nearby wasteland. The 20 year-old from The Green, Clonard is receiving reconstructive treatment to her face at Saint James's Hospital in Dublin. Gardai in Wexford are investigating the incident and a file on the matter is being prepared for the DPP.
