Kent Stainless, based in Ardcavan, Wexford has been awarded the prestigious ‘Employer of the Year’ title at the National Generation Apprenticeship Champions in the Workplace Awards. The award, presented at a ceremony in Dublin's Gibson Hotel, recognizes the company's outstanding commitment to supporting and developing apprenticeships in Ireland. Kent Stainless was one of only eight employers selected from 100 national nominations, celebrated for its long-standing dedication to training the next generation of skilled workers. The company currently mentors over 20 apprentices and has helped more than 300 individuals complete apprenticeships over its 40-year history. Peter Edwards, Production Manager at Kent Stainless, expressed pride in receiving the award, emphasizing the company’s commitment to developing skills, supporting careers and driving business growth through apprenticeships. Minister Marian Harkin, who presented the awards, praised the calibre of employers recognized for their dedication to apprenticeships, while Nessa White, Interim CEO of SOLAS, highlighted the importance of employers in strengthening Ireland’s apprenticeship system. The growing popularity of apprenticeships in Ireland is reflected in the increasing number of employers investing in training, fostering innovation, and contributing to the country’s economic development.
