Woman assaulted and robbed by men pretending to be gardai in wexford
A woman has been hospitalised following a viscious assault in Wexford this morning. The victim - who was driving to work - was stopped by what was described as a dark coloured older type Ford Mondeo car that gave the impression of being a garda car with a blue flashing light. She was then approached by a man impersonating a garda who proceeded to threaten her and take a sum of money. The woman was assaulted during the incident at Corramacorra Junction in Murrintown at approximately 6.25am this morning and required treatment at Wexford General Hospital. The man left the scene in the Mondeo, which was driven by a second man in the direction of Murrintown. Gardai wish to appeal for witnesses that may have seen a car fitting this description in and around the area this morning or to anyone that may be able to assist the gardai with this investigation to contact Wexford Garda Station on 053-9165200 or the Garda Confidential Line.
