Yellow Rain Warning Issued for Wexford With Coastal Flooding Risk

A Status Yellow rain warning has been issued for County Wexford for Sunday morning, with heavy and potentially thundery rain expected.

Met Éireann says the warning will come into effect at 4am on Sunday, September 27th, and remain in place until 11am.

The warning also covers Cork, Kerry and Waterford.

Heavy thundery rain could lead to localised flooding, poor visibility and difficult travelling conditions, with motorists being advised to take extra care.

There is an additional concern along the Wexford coastline.

Met Éireann says a combination of spring tides, storm surge and strong onshore winds could result in wave overtopping, particularly in exposed coastal areas.

People travelling during the warning period are being advised to allow additional time for journeys and to be alert for surface water and flooding on roads.

Those living or travelling close to the coast should also exercise caution due to the risk posed by high waves and overtopping.

The Status Yellow warning was issued shortly before 11am on Friday and will be valid from 4am until 11am on Sunday.
