DUBLIN SHOOTING LEAVES A MAN IN A CRITICAL CONDITION

A 45-year-old man is in a critical condition following a shooting in Dublin.

The incident happened outside a gym in Balbriggan this morning.

Its the second time in the last four years that the man has been the victim of a gun attack.

Shortly after 11 o’clock this morning – a 45-year-old – was shot at a number of times – as he left a gym in the Balbriggan Retail Park.

The victim – who is known to Gardai – was hit at least twice in the upper body.

Emergency services were called to the scene – and the man was rushed by ambulance to Beaumont Hospital for treatment.

His condition is being described as critical.

The man survived a previous attempt on his life – when he was shot in a bar near his home in Bettystown in Co Meath in 2010.

A team from the Garda Technical Bureau is carrying out a forensic examination of the scene – which remains sealed off.

Gardai are appealing to any witnesses to the gun attack to contact them.
