Scoil Mhuire Carrick-on-Suir claimed their first-ever Allianz Mary Moran Cup in a dominant performance against Presentation Wexford in Thursday’s replay at SETU Carlow. Despite a shaky start in the previous final, Carrick led from start to finish, with Kilkenny minor vice-captain Grace Farrell shining as player of the match, contributing 0-7, including five frees.
The Carrick defence, though caught out for two goals by Presentation, absorbed the pressure well. A first-quarter lead of 0-4 to 0-1 was extended by Farrell and Ruby Norris, despite two goals from Presentation’s Isabella Canning and Cara O'Shaughnessy.
At halftime, Scoil Mhuire led 0-9 to 2-2, and after a tough third quarter, Carrick’s Bláthanid Keane inspired the team with a score to start the final period. Presentation’s last point came in the 51st minute, but Carrick held firm, closing out the game with two crucial frees from Farrell.
Final Score: Scoil Mhuire Carrick-on-Suir 0-13, Presentation Wexford 2-4.
