1 and 2 cent coins to be officially rounded
1 and 2 cent coins will be officially rounded over the next few months following a rounding trial in Wexford in 2013. The Central Bank says it has now taken over the project after the Government decided to go ahead with the plan today. Rounding will be on a voluntary basis and will apply to cash transactions only; 1 and 2 cent coins will remain legal tender; and the total amount of any bill will be rounded up or down to the nearest 5 cent.
