Wexford duo Clueless named South East Radio’s New Local Hero winner

Wexford hip-hop duo Clueless have been named South East Radio’s winner of the A New Local Hero competition as part of Irish Music Month.

Best friends Deejay and Fatty Matty, from Duncormack, have been making music together with their playful brand of hip-hop, combining punchy, danceable beats with unexpected and often hilarious lyrics.

The duo were among four Wexford finalists in the competition, alongside singer-songwriters Rachel Grace and Ayda, and Wexford band Stone Blind State.

Clueless now join winning acts from independent radio stations across the country, with a national judging panel set to select six acts to go forward to the grand finale at The Academy in Dublin on October 28th.

A wildcard act will also be selected before the end of Irish Music Month, with voting for that place due to open in the coming days.

The overall winner of A New Local Hero will receive €5,000, along with a single release on Rubyworks, recorded at Camden Recording Studios with Cian Boylan and mastered by Grammy Award winner Ruairi Cushnan of Spéir Mix & Master.

The winner will also receive a month of guaranteed airplay across every participating station, alongside further industry opportunities.

Irish Music Month is in association with IBI, Hot Press and Coimisiún na Meán’s Sound & Vision Scheme, funded by the television licence fee.
