A remarkable act of endurance and determination saw Gorey's Evan McShane complete a 100-kilometre charity run from Gorey to Dublin's iconic Spire on Saturday, raising vital funds and awareness for suicide prevention and mental health.
Setting off from Gorey, Evan's journey took him through Arklow, Wicklow Town, Bray and into Dublin city centre, where he crossed the finish line at the Spire after an extraordinary day on the road.
The challenge wasn't just about covering the distance. Evan organised the event to encourage open conversations around mental health, help break the stigma surrounding mental illness and support organisations working in suicide prevention through donations on the iDonate platform.
Along the way, members of the public joined him for sections of the route, taking part in 5km and 10km stretches to show their support and stand in solidarity with those affected by mental health challenges.
Speaking about the fundraiser, Evan said every kilometre represented hope for someone struggling with their mental health, adding that every donation, no matter how small, has the potential to make a real difference.
His inspiring achievement has been widely praised, highlighting the power of community, resilience and the importance of continuing the conversation around mental health and suicide prevention.
