Large crowds are expected to visit beaches across the county today as people make the most of the warm weather, prompting Gardaí to issue a strong warning to motorists about irresponsible parking.
Drivers are being urged not to abandon their vehicles or block access routes to beaches, as doing so could delay emergency services responding to incidents.
Sergeant Eddie Wilde says it's difficult to understand why some motorists choose to park without considering the consequences.
He says the problem isn't limited to the county's busiest beaches, but is also being seen at smaller coastal locations, including Ballymoney, several bays around New Ross, Todder Bay and the Fedder area.
Sergeant Wilde is reminding beachgoers that access roads must remain clear at all times, as the Coast Guard, RNLI, ambulance crews, doctors or other emergency responders may need immediate access if someone suffers a medical emergency on the beach.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone heading to the coast today to park responsibly, obey parking restrictions and ensure emergency vehicles can get through without delay.
