15,500 people in county wexford experiencing food poverty
That's according to figures published over the weekend by the Mandate and UNITE trade unions which show 1 in 10 people in Ireland couldn't afford a proper meal in the last week. New Ross Éirigí councillor John Dwyer spoke to South East Radio's Morning Mix on the matter. He says the problem is widespread across the county with some surviving on cereal or bread and beans. Meanwhile Mary Dempsey the Wexford Area President of the St. Vincent De Paul says people of all backgrounds and ages are currently experiencing food poverty.
