20,000 illegal cigarettes seized at rosslare europort
Revenue's Customs Service yesterday seized almost 20,000 illegal cigarettes at Rosslare Europort. The haul had an estimated retail value of over 9,400 euro and a potential loss to the Exchequer of almost 8,000 euro. Following routine profiling, Revenue officers discovered the 'Denim' and 'Compliment' cigarettes deeply concealed in a car which had arrived on a ferry from France. The driver was a Lithuanian male in his late twenties. A file is being prepared for DPP.
