Adams' period of detention expected to be extended
Police in the North are expected to go to court this afternoon to seek an extension to Gerry Adams' period of detention. The Sinn Féin President has been questioned since Wednesday night over the IRA abduction and murder of Jean McConville. Mr Adams has always denied any involvment in the killing. Meanwhile the Sinn Féin response to his arrest has been described as 'disgraceful'. Wicklow Fine Gael TD and european election candidate for Ireland South Simon Harris made the comments on South East Radio's Morning Mix. He told Alan Corcoran that Mr Adams needs to co-operate fully with the investigation and answer all questions.
