Additional funding for wexfords' roads
County Wexford is to benefit from a decision to commit additional funding for the Community Involvement Scheme. The scheme allows for road improvements on regional and local roads across the county. Last year Wexford County Council implemented nine Community Involvement Schemes worth over 650-thousand euro. There was a community contribution of over 39 per cent towards these projects. The Minister for Transport Leo Varadkar has indicated that this additional funding of 4.5 million euro combined with the 2.3 million euro already allocated for 2014 could see 170 kms of road improvements across the country. The pilot scheme which was launched last year has allowed Wexford County Council to resurface roads that would normally not be given preference by the council.
