Aid agency warns ebola epidemic reaching 'tipping point'
The Goal aid agency is warning that the Ebola epidemic is reaching a 'tipping point'. New figures from the US have predicted that the total number of cases could reach 1.4 million by January. Goal is appealing for medical workers to join them in the fight against the virus at their treatment centres in Liberia. Senior manager with the agency there Darren Hanniffy says they have a mountain to climb. "For every person that is infected, it is another caseload to carry, another carrier of the disease, another person who could potentially spread the disease" he said. "So where one month ago we were dealing with a much smaller caseload, you reach a tipping point - and that is what the world is very concerned about now, this tipping point that we are reaching" he added.
