Almost 200 people attended the Wexford Energy Expo in Enniscorthy last week, seeking practical advice on reducing energy bills, improving home efficiency and making more sustainable choices.
The free event, held at the Astro Active Community Centre on Thursday, October 22nd, brought together energy experts, businesses and organisations offering guidance on home insulation, energy grants, electric vehicles and business energy efficiency.
Organised by Wexford County Council's Climate Action Team with support from Enniscorthy Municipal District, it was the first time the Expo had been held in Enniscorthy.
The event was officially opened by Cathaoirleach of Wexford County Council, Cllr Lisa McDonald, and Cathaoirleach of Enniscorthy Municipal District, Cllr Pat Kehoe.
Representatives from the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), South East Energy Agency, High Performance Building Alliance and Wexford Local Enterprise Office were among those providing expert advice.
Panel discussions and information sessions attracted full audiences, with particular interest in ways to cut household energy costs and access financial supports for energy upgrades.
Wexford County Council's Climate Action Coordinator, Clare Kelly, welcomed the turnout.
"We are delighted with the success of the Wexford Energy Expo. To welcome almost 200 people and have great interest in our panel discussions was fantastic," she said.
"It demonstrates the level of interest across County Wexford in reducing energy costs, improving efficiency and making positive changes for the environment."
Ms Kelly said the aim was to make expert advice accessible and relevant to everyday life, whether people were considering insulating their homes, switching to electric vehicles or improving energy efficiency in their businesses.
Following the success of the event, Wexford County Council has confirmed plans to hold another Energy Expo in spring 2027, at a different location in the county.
The Council says it hopes to build on the strong public response and help more households and businesses access practical advice on reducing energy consumption and costs.
