Wexford's Edie Kinsella to Compete for Miss Ireland Crown

A 27-year-old woman from Killeens in County Wexford is preparing to take centre stage at the Miss Ireland 2026 Grand Final next month.

Edie Kinsella will fly the flag for Wexford at the 78th Miss Ireland competition, taking place at the Fairways Hotel in Dundalk on Saturday, November 21st.

An animal care assistant and dog groomer, Edie is passionate about animal welfare and has been actively involved in fundraising and charity events supporting Seal Rescue Ireland and the Wexford Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (WSPCA).

Speaking ahead of the competition, Edie said her love of animals has inspired her ambitions for the future.

"Animal welfare has always been something I care deeply about, and one of my biggest ambitions is to return to studying veterinary medicine so I can further my knowledge and turn that passion into a career helping animals," she said.

Edie will compete alongside finalists from across Ireland for the prestigious national title and the opportunity to represent Ireland on the international stage.

Now in its 78th year, Miss Ireland aims to celebrate confidence, ambition, leadership and community involvement, with contestants taking part in activities including public speaking, debating, sport and performance.

Charitable fundraising also plays a central role in the competition, with this year's finalists supporting Ronald McDonald House, which provides accommodation and support for families of seriously ill children receiving hospital treatment.

According to organisers, Miss Ireland has raised more than €400,000 for charitable causes in recent years.

The November final will see reigning Miss Ireland Caoimhe Kenny crown her successor.

The winner will receive a range of prizes, including an agency contract, and the opportunity to represent Ireland at the Miss World Festival in Tanzania in 2027.

For Edie, the competition also provides an opportunity to raise awareness of animal welfare and the causes closest to her heart.

The Miss Ireland Grand Final takes place on Saturday, November 21st, at the Fairways Hotel in Dundalk.
