An Australian man has been found guilty of manslaughter for a one-punch assault that killed Irish man Thomas Keaney (23) in Perth. Abbas Al-Jrood (23) was accused of unlawfully killing the Galway native outside a kebab shop in December 2013. The court heard Al-Jrood punched Mr Keaney in the back of the head after an argument over a chair. He died days later in hospital. Reporter with ABCNews in Perth, Joanna Menagh, says the jury found him guilty of manslaughter and remanded him in custody. "The man who was on trial was another 23-yea-old, Abbas Al-Jrood - he maintained that he only pushed Mr Keaney and that he thought he was reaching into a handbag to get a weapon, and so he tried to push him away" she said. "He maintained that he didn't do anything wrong". "The jury deliberated for about four and a half hours, before rejecting his defence and finding him guilty of manslaughter". "He's been remanded in custody and he'll face a sentencing hearing" she added.
