Breakdown of €13.49 Million Storm Road Repair Funding Spend Revealed

The New Ross Municipal District is to benefit most from the €13.49 million received by Wexford County Council to fix roads damaged by Storm Chandra.

A total of €40 million was allocated between nine different counties to repair roads damaged by the storm earlier this year with Wexford receiving the highest share.

At the July meeting of WCC, it was revealed the council had asked for 20 million euro to repair 146 route across the county and got nearly 70% of what they asked for.

Director of Roads Eamon Hore says 49 of those roads will be in the New Ross district, 32 in Rosslare, 29 in Enniscorthy 22 in Wexford Borough, and 14 roads in Gorey Kilmuckridge.

€1.5 million will be given to each of the 5 districts in the county to carry out resurfacing and other works.

€2.5 million has already been spent by the council in advance of this announcement.

Councillors in the New Ross District had asked for the lions share of this money as the majority of the roads damaged were contained in their area.

Gorey Kilmuckridge Councillor Nicky Boland revealled the largest job in that district will be to repair 1750 metres of the Slievengrane to Bolaboy road at a cost of €241,500.
