Cahore Inshore Rescue Launches 24-Hour Challenge to Raise Funds for Lifesaving Service

Cahore Inshore Rescue is calling on the community to get behind its latest fundraising effort as volunteers prepare to take on a 24-hour endurance challenge to support the essential lifesaving service.

The event begins at 3pm on Thursday, 24th July, and runs continuously until 3pm on Friday, 25th July. During that time, participants will use static bikes and rowing machines to virtually cover 3,380 kilometres – the equivalent distance from Cahore, Co. Wexford, to Newfoundland, Canada.

As part of the challenge, the public is also invited to take part in a 5km community walk, offering another opportunity for people of all ages to show their support.

Speaking on Morning Mix, Conor and Jae Anne from Cahore Inshore Rescue said every euro raised will go directly towards maintaining the volunteer-run rescue service, helping to cover the cost of equipment, training and day-to-day operations.

Cahore Inshore Rescue operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing a vital emergency response along the Wexford coastline. Like many independent rescue organisations, it relies heavily on community fundraising to ensure crews have the resources they need when responding to incidents at sea.

The volunteers are encouraging as many people as possible to come along, take part in the walk, cheer on those completing the challenge and help support a service that is always ready to answer the call when needed.
