Creighton: we can do more than the independents
Lucinda Creighton says her new party can offer the electorate more in government than a group of independents. The former junior minister confirmed plans for a new party last week to be launched in eight weeks time. It aims to support entrepreneurs, but also make sure that everyone in Ireland has a minimum standard of living. Speaking to Mid West Radio, Ms Creigton said while there will be no party whip on matters of conscience, the new party will rally around a number of core principles. "We have outlined our four principles: supporting an enterprise economy, reforming politics, reforming the public sector and creating a minimum lifestyle standard in Irish society for all citizens" she said. "That's something that we can all rally around, we will all work together on and we will promote in government". "The independents don't have that capacity" she added.
