Discarded Needles and Dumping Reported In Ramsfort Woods

A local councillor says there is no place for anti social behaviour in Ramsfort Woods.

Sinn Fein's Craig Doyle has shared pictures online appearing to show dumping, vandalism and discarded needles in the public walking trail.

The area just outside Gorey Town is popular with familes, walkers and dog owners.

Wexford Walking Trails says the are used to be known as the Deerpark and the woodland was once part of the Ram Estate with deer running wild through its 400 acres of mainly oak trees. 

Councillor Doyle is urging anyone who witnesses this behaviour to report it to the Gardai and says no one should have to put up with the levels of destruction being left behind.

Many councillors say they are looking forward to the introduction of mobile CCTV cameras which are on the way for the county.

These moveable cameras will be placed at 6 locations across Wexford in an attempt to catch dumpers in the act and keep parts of the countryside clean.

An update on the location of those cameras will be provided next month with many expected to be installed at first around clothes banks.

However, they can be moved at a later date if other litter blackspots are identified.
