Dublin teen complains after grandmother left standing on train
A 13-year-old boy has taken matters into his own hands after his granny was left standing on a train for three hours because all the seats were full. Zach McCarthy from Blackrock in Dublin has written to Irish Rail explaining his disappointment at the journey last Friday night. He used his confirmation money to buy a ticket to travel to Cork with his grandmother, who is aged in her 70s. Around 30 people were left standing for the journey, including Zach's granny and a pregnant woman. Zach explains why he has written to Irish Rail. "I feel that this is totally unacceptable and they need a new policy - because 34 euro just isn't going to do it" he said. "A spokesperson from Irish Rail said they'd give me 34 euro back, but I think they're just trying to disguise the harshness" he added.
