Empty shops could be turned into homes without planning permission

Plans to turn empty shops into houses without the need for planning permission will be revealed today.

The proposals would also allow vacant commercial units and rooms above shops to be redeveloped. The Irish Times reports that the Housing Minister will announce the plans today in a bid to tackle the housing crisis.
