Enniscorthy woman brings women’s health to the heart of Stormont

An Enniscorthy woman has brought together key voices in women’s health for the inaugural SHE Women’s Health Forum at Parliament Buildings, Stormont.

Precious Obasohan, originally from Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford, convened the forum on Wednesday, September 9th, bringing together policymakers, clinicians, researchers and women’s health leaders from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

It was the first forum of its kind at Stormont focused specifically on women’s health.

Among those attending were Minister of State Jennifer Murnane O’Connor TD and Laura Dowling, The Fabulous Pharmacist.

A major focus of the day was the fragmented experience many women face when navigating healthcare, alongside discussions on what Northern Ireland can learn from developments in women’s health in the Republic.

Precious is now bringing the key discussions and recommendations together in a post-forum paper, setting out the issues raised and potential next steps.

The forum also highlights a strong South East connection, with Precious bringing her Enniscorthy roots to an event focused on improving women’s health across the island of Ireland.
