Independent broadcasters have welcomed plans from Fianna Fáil to set aside some of the TV licence fee for local radio.
It's after the opposition party published a bill which would give local stations 30 per cent of any additional money collected. Currently local stations can only access just over 10 euro of the licence fee for specific programmes - but that portion can also be claimed by RTE.
