Free Car Seat Check Service Coming To Wexford Next Month

Wexford parents can get their child's car seat checked at special events around the county next month.

The RSA is bringing its Check It Fits campaign to the South East to show families how to secure the seats correctly, and answer any questions you may have.

The authority says 54 per cent of car seats are fitted incorrectly and children smaller than 150 cm or 36 kilos must always travel in an appropriate seat.

Experts will be available at Tesco New Ross on Tuesday 18th August, Aldi in the Wexford Retail Park the following day and Happy Baby in Gorey on the 20th.

The service is backed by Wexford County Council, is completely free and virtual consultations can be arranged for those that can't attend in person.

You can request an online chat with one of the child car seat experts by submitting a booking request.

Once that has been done, they will be in contact with you to schedule a suitable date and time.

Experts are also reminding drivers it is illegal to place a rearward-facing child car seat in the front of the car where there is an active airbag. 

An airbag which opens up in front of a rearward-facing child car seat can cause serious injury or even death if there is a collision.
