Gp practice in wexford without doctor for over 3 years
There's concern over the availability of doctors to serve in rural areas. It's been rasied by the Irish College of General Practitioners who say there are eighteen rural GP practices in the country which are vacant. One of them is in the North Wexford district of Coolgreaney, which has been without a GP for three and half years. The postion has been advertised four times and locals are now concerned they may not ever get a GP to live in the area again. The ICGP put this down to lack of manpower due to an aging GP population, combined with the fact that a large number of newly qualified doctors are emigrating.
