A major act of vandalism at Monachán Graveyard in Taghmon has been condemned after 18 graves and headstones were damaged.
Gravestones were broken and pulled from the ground, heavy stone borders were removed and a cast-iron cross was also smashed.
Local councillor Jim Codd described the scene as "horrifying" and has appealed to anyone with information to contact Gardaí in Taghmon.
He said the attack has caused deep upset within the local community and described the damage as an attack on the county's heritage and the resting places of loved ones.
He is appealing for Witnesses & for people with any information to come forward to the Gardai
