Lc students to get an option of written exams or calculated grades

Leaving Cert students will have the option of a calculated grade or a written exam in each subject.

The Cabinet Sub-Committee on Education has signed off on the proposals after hours of talks on how the exams should progress. An official announcement is expected later as the Minister for Education Norma Foley is said to be briefing teaching unions on the changes. The Junior Cert has also been cancelled.
