Man jailed for life after murdering father of two in dublin
A man has been jailed for life for murdering a father of two in front of his girlfriend and baby boy in Dublin. Eugene Cullen from Derry Road, Crumlin was found guilty of plotting a gangland style hit on Seamus O'Byrne in March 2009. Eugene Cullen closed his eyes and gave very little reaction when the jury found him guilty of murder just before lunchtime today. Just over five years ago, Seamus 'Shay' O'Byrne was shot dead outside his home at Tymon Park in Tallaght. His girlfriend Sharon Rattigan was putting their baby boy into their car when he was shot five times. Throughout his trial, the jurors were told that Cullen plotted the hit but didn't pull the trigger himself. In a Victim Impact Report, Shay's sister Charis described his execution as a "cowardly and cold-blooded murder" that has devastated their family. Cullen is already serving a 10 year jail term for a robbery in Galway and has now been sentenced to life for his role in Shay's murder.
