New Campaign Launched to Address Rising School Absenteeism in Wexford

A new campaign has been launched in Wexford to highlight the importance of school attendance. The Tusla Education Support Service, working with the Minister for Education and Youth, is rolling out the initiative nationwide as new figures show concerning levels of absenteeism locally. In Wexford, primary pupils lost more than 10% of their school days last year, while at post-primary level over 12% were missed. More than one in five Wexford children at both primary and secondary level were absent for 20 days or more during the school year. The campaign, which runs across TV, radio and cinemas, aims to encourage parents, schools, and communities to help improve attendance.
