Pope Francis has named 17 new cardinals from around the world, including one with close links to Ireland. Kevin Joseph Farrell is among those chosen from across five continents, and include the Vatican's envoy to Syria. Bishop Farrell was born in Dublin and studied under the Christian Brothers in Drimnagh - he is now based in Texas. Pope Francis has now chosen close to a third of the College of Cardinals who will ultimately pick who succeeds him.
